GM crops, what are they? Do we need them? What benefits do we get out of them? These are some of the few questions many people ask. We wonder at times why this topic gets a lot of attention in the media. Is it because of all the legal battles farmers are facing with the big companies which produce the transgenic crops, or is it because of the ethical issues related to transgenic crops. In today’s world two of the main leading issues regarding GMOs are the economic factor and the environmental factor. First we will take a look at the History of how GMOs evolved then we will take a closer look at how it effects environment and finally the economic characteristics of GM companies.
