Introduction

My project is a review of current research articles relating to bacteriophage therapy. The goal of this review is to give an overview of the recent research on this therapeutic method to not only inform the reader, but to give the reader a sense of where this technology is at now and its future applicability in health care. This will be accomplished by bringing together the best and most relevant and diverse research available on phage therapy to highlight the critical points of this technology, including effectiveness, safety, and potential in health care.

Work Completed

I have completed a project proposal that introduced my project, as well as gave an overview of the method that will be used to complete this article review and the timeline that I will adhere to when completing this project. This proposal was completed and submitted on September 27th, 2010. The first article review that will be included in this project is titled ÒIs Phage Therapy Acceptable in the Immunocompromised Host?Ó and is found on the class discussion board. This article was completed October 11, 2010. After the submission of this first review, nine more articles were selectively chosen to fulfill this projectÕs goal of offering relevant and diverse information to give an unbiased review of this technology. This part of the project was a challenge. There hasnÕt been a lot of recent research on phage therapy, so it was difficult to find articles that were both recent and diverse. To find a diverse and recent set of articles, I had to search through numerous Journals and websites. The articles were collectively sited in an annotated bibliography that was completed and submitted on November 1, 2010.

Work Scheduled

Currently, I am in the process of compiling the information obtained in each of the ten articles listed on my annotated bibliography in order to form a review of each. The review will be written over the next couple of weeks, and the first draft of this review is scheduled to be completed and submitted by November 24, 2010. Upon receiving feedback on the review, I intend to revise the project as recommended by my classmates and submit the final draft by December 3, 2010. The completed project will then be published on the public website along with the articles submitted by my classmates.

Conclusion

With all the work that I have completed to this date, I have kept this project on track with the schedule submitted in the proposal for this project. The work completed so far has been done in accordance with my intended goals for this project as well as the expectations of this projectÕs contribution to the class website. My record on this project so far has given no indication to conclude that this project will not be completed on time and fulfill its allotted goals. This project will be completed on time and be a great contribution to the website. A review of the current research on phage therapy will help the website give a more complete impression of all of aspects of the issue by offering a potential solution to the problems resulting from antibiotic resistance.
