Lesson 2: Growing in the New Life

  1. According to last week's lesson, how do we enter into new life and what is the new life?

  2. According to the following verses, what are some of the signs of immaturity in the Christian Life? I Corinthians 3:1-3; Hebrews 5:11-14

  3. According to the following verses, growing in the new life is not just an individual thing: part of growing up is learning to live together as members of Christ's church.
    • What does Ephesians 4:11-16 tell us about this process?

    • What does I Peter 2:4&5 teach about growing up together?

    • What does Hebrews 10:24&25 encourage us to do to help us grow together?

  4. It is not enough, however, just to participate in church activities: we need to have a private devotional life.
    • What does I Peter 2:1&2 tell us about nourishing the new life?

    • Divide II Peter 1:3-8 into two sections. What verses did you group together and why? What do they tell you about how to grow up in the new life?

    • What does James warn us about in James 1:22-25?

  5. Finally, it is important to remember that the new life is not something we create, and it is not something that we can make happen.
    • Explain what Galatians 3:3&5 tell us about how to grow.

    • What does Colossians 2:6&7 say about the growth process?

    • Explain how to balance the two concepts contained in Philippians 2:12&13.
